What we treat
Focused care for ADHD and autism
Care is physician-led by a board-certified child psychiatrist, from the first evaluation through ongoing medication management.
Autism
Psychiatric care for autistic children and teens, including the anxiety, irritability, sleep and attention concerns that often come along with it.
Other concerns
Anxiety, depression, OCD and other mental health conditions, whether or not your child also has ADHD or autism.

How a new patient visit works

Fill out the short, secure new patient form with your child's details and what you'd like help with.
Hear back
Each request is reviewed, and we get back to you by email. If we're a good fit, we'll offer appointment times.
Complete forms
Fill out intake forms and questionnaires securely in the Charm portal.
Meet by video
Join the evaluation by Zoom using the link in your confirmation. Visits run up to two hours.
Meet your doctor
Michael K. Heck, D.O.
Dr. Heck is board certified in both Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and General Psychiatry. He trained in psychiatry and child psychiatry at the University of Virginia and has more than a decade of telemedicine experience caring for families across Virginia.
A Charlottesville native since 1985, he founded Treehouse to offer thoughtful, evidence-based care to children with ADHD and autism, and continues to teach and supervise at UVA.
Private pay, with superbills for reimbursement
Treehouse is an out-of-network practice and does not accept insurance or Medicaid. We provide superbills you can submit to your insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
